Sports News] Chinese badminton legend Zhao Yunlei recently took to her social
media platforms to share a significant announcement. She revealed that she
would be donating her gold medal from the 2012 London Olympics, aiming to
inspire all sports enthusiasts and encourage more young people to participate
in sports. Zhao Yunlei can be regarded as the “Queen” of Chinese
badminton, boasting an illustrious career as a player with victories in the
World Championships, Olympic Games, and Asian Games. Notably, she is the only
player in badminton history to achieve Grand Slam in women’s doubles and mixed
doubles. Despite retiring, her records remain unbroken. Last summer, she was
honored by the World Badminton Federation with induction into the Badminton
Federation Hall of Fame. The editor believes that donating Olympic medals is a
remarkable gesture as it can attract more young individuals to engage in
sports, thereby elevating the status of badminton. Such actions deserve
recognition and promotion.
