[Saba Sports News] According to the latest rankings from the Badminton
World Federation (BWF), Nguyen Thuy Linh, a female badminton player from
Vietnam, currently holds the 21st position, which is her highest career ranking
to date. If she can maintain her performance, there is a chance for her to
qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The badminton singles event at the Paris
Olympics will have a total of 38 male and female quotas. Each gender will have
one spot allocated to the host country, as well as two wild cards. The
remaining 35 spots will be determined based on the players’ rankings for the
Paris qualification period, which begins on May 1, 2023, and ends on April 28,
2024. The final announcement of the qualified players for the Olympics will be
made on April 30, 2024. In the recently concluded 2023 China Badminton Masters,
Nguyen finished fifth. Currently, she is preparing for the Malaysian Open,
scheduled to take place on January 9 of the following year. As this event is
part of the World Tour Super 1000 system, her performance here will play a
crucial role in determining her fate in the Paris Olympics.
