[Saba Sports News] With the growing popularity of
F1 worldwide, fans have developed a keen interest in collecting F1-related
merchandise and souvenirs. These collectibles often include signed driver
cards, F1 models, or simply selfies with their favorite drivers. The prices of
these items can vary greatly, ranging from free giveaways to items worth hundreds
of dollars. One particularly noteworthy F1 souvenir holds an astonishing value
of £18 million. This prized possession is a British vehicle license plate
bearing the inscription “F1.” Back in 2008, a British businessman
named Afzal Khan acquired this license plate from Essex County Council for
£375,000. He initially affixed it to his McLaren SLR, but later transferred it
to his Bugatti Veyron sports car, reportedly turning down a £5 million offer
for it in 2010. According to checks conducted by Reg Transfers, the value of
the “F1” license plate has skyrocketed to £15,009,995 by 2024.
Accounting for a 20% tax rate and additional charges, the total price exceeds
£18 million. However, some car enthusiasts argue that the “F1”
license plate holds no significant meaning and is merely a randomly generated
serial number within the license plate system.
