Sports News] During the women’s singles quarterfinal match at the Super 750
Indian Open, South Korea’s An Se-young decided to withdraw after falling behind
0-3 in the second game. Following the match, “Yonhap News Agency”
revealed that the cause of An Se-young’s withdrawal was not a knee injury.
According to sources from the Korean Badminton Association, it is believed that
An Se-young experienced issues with her inner right thigh muscles during the
game. With this being an Olympic year and An Se-young being a strong contender
for the Korean team’s championship, a decision was made to withdraw her from
the competition to prevent further injury. An Se-young will undergo further
examinations upon her return to South Korea, and the timing of her comeback is
yet to be determined. She will certainly miss the 2024 Indonesia Badminton
Masters on January 23. In last year’s Hangzhou Asian Games, An Se-young chose
to play despite an injury, which exacerbated the condition and kept her
sidelined for two months. In preparation for the Paris Olympics, An Se-young
has made a firm commitment to refrain from participating in any variety shows
or advertising activities until she secures an Olympic gold medal. Her focus will
be on recovery and training. Undoubtedly, An Se-young has become a prominent
figure in the Korean badminton world, and the Korean Badminton Federation will
provide her with the best resources to safeguard her health.
