Sports News] The Glazer Family, who previously held over 110 million Manchester
United shares, stands as the primary beneficiaries of the transaction. The sale
of 25% of the shares at a price of $33 per share is estimated to have generated
approximately £715 million in net income for the Glazer family. This concludes
the 13-month acquisition process involving Manchester United. Since their
initial purchase of the club for around £790 million in 2005, the Glazer family
has extracted around £1 billion from Manchester United to cover debt, interest,
and management fees. Notably, Ratcliffe, a lifelong Manchester United fan, has
expressed his affection for the club on multiple occasions. In addition to his
recent involvement with Manchester United, Ratcliffe has made investments in
the sports industry, including ownership of the Ineos Britannia sailing team, a
one-third stake in the Mercedes Formula 1 team, and ownership of both a Serie A
team and a French Ligue 1 team Nice.
