[Saba Sports News] With the commencement of
pre-season test matches, the 2024 F1 season is on the verge of beginning. This
season brings several rule changes compared to the previous year, and one
change that has garnered significant attention from car enthusiasts is the
shorter appeal window. The “right of review” outlined in the FIA’s
International Racing Regulations provides teams with a pathway to appeal
decisions or situations that occurred in previous races. If teams can provide
new evidence, the FIA has the option to review the already-decided outcome.
Previously, teams had a 14-day window to lodge an appeal following a decision.
However, under the new regulations, teams must submit their appeal within 96
hours, with the possibility of a 24-hour extension under special circumstances.
Additionally, teams are now required to pay an upfront deposit, determined
annually by the governing body. The FIA will refund this deposit if the case is
successful or, if necessary, retain it. Furthermore, teams must explicitly
specify the material, relevant, or new factors before a hearing is conducted.
