[Saba Sports News] In the recently concluded
women’s singles final of the Indian Badminton Open, Tai Tzu-Ying from Chinese
Taipei emerged victorious over Chen Yufei from China with a score of 2-0. This
triumph marks an important milestone for Tai Tzu-Ying in 2024 as it is her
first championship title in India throughout her career. Additionally, this
achievement ties her with An Se Young and Chen Yufei for holding the record for
the most major tournament victories. With this win, Tai Tzu-Ying has now
secured 32 singles championship titles in her career, leaving her just one
title behind the former legendary Chinese men’s singles player Lin Dan’s record
of 33 titles. The top spot is currently held by the legendary Malaysian
badminton player Lee Chong Wei, who boasts 57 crowns. Tai Tzu-Ying is the only
women’s singles player who has reached the 30-title mark, highlighting her
exceptional abilities. However, there are rumors circulating that she may
choose to retire after this year’s Paris Olympics. She is determined to capture
the Olympic badminton gold medal before concluding her career. Winning this
prestigious honor remains her unfulfilled aspiration, not only for herself but
also for the entire badminton community. Tai Tzu-Ying is diligently striving
for this coveted achievement.
