Sports News] In the recently concluded Asian Badminton Team Championships, the
Indian women’s team emerged victorious by defeating the Thai women’s team in
the final, securing the championship title. Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, the leading
Indian badminton player and No.1 woman player of Indian badminton, played a
crucial role in this historic win. Coming back from a long break, Sindhu
expressed her gratitude for being able to contribute to the team’s success in
the team competition. In an interview with the media after the game, Sindhu
stated, “Winning the Asian Badminton Team Championship has boosted my
confidence, and I aim to achieve good results in the upcoming European Tour. My
ultimate goal is to win the gold medal in badminton at the Paris Olympics later
this year.” Sindhu is widely recognized as one of the best badminton
players in India. She holds the distinction of being the first Indian player to
win the Asian Youth Championship. In 2019, she clinched the women’s singles
championship at the World Championships, becoming a world champion and
achieving the highest accolade for an Indian badminton player. While injuries
in recent years have affected her ranking, Sindhu was once ranked second in the
world in women’s singles. However, she has now dropped to 14th in the current
women’s singles rankings.
