[Saba Sports News] Pakistan’s rapid bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, recently tied the knot with Ansha Afridi, the daughter of former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi.
Afridi expressed his gratitude for the warm wishes he received on social media, along with pictures from his special day, captioning them with, “Thanks to everyone for the heartwarming wishes. Here’s to the start of a journey filled with love and laughter with that special someone.” Surprisingly, he also left a comment on his own post, congratulating himself, which quickly became a viral sensation on social media.
In recent cricket news, Shaheen Afridi had an impressive performance in the 2023 Asia Cup, finishing as the joint second-highest wicket-taker with ten wickets from five innings, averaging 23.50 and maintaining an economy rate of 5.73. Unfortunately, despite his efforts, Pakistan couldn’t advance beyond the Super Four stage of the tournament, facing elimination after a two-wicket loss to Sri Lanka.
Following their disappointing exit, reports circulated about a rift between Babar Azam, the team’s captain, and Shaheen Afridi. It was suggested that Babar had strongly criticized his teammates, demanding accountability for their mistakes after the defeat to Sri Lanka. Afridi, in response, defended the players who had performed well, which only fueled the tension between him and Babar. Mohammad Rizwan had to step in and mediate the dispute. However, Afridi dispelled rumors of a fallout by posting a photo with Babar on Twitter, accompanied by the caption “family.”
Looking ahead, Pakistan is gearing up for the 2023 ODI World Cup, commencing with a match against the Netherlands in Hyderabad on October 6. Before that, they have warm-up games scheduled against New Zealand on September 29 and Australia on October 3.
