[Saba Sports News] According to reports, 34-year-old Australian F1
champion Daniel Ricciardo is making plans for a business venture after his
retirement from racing. With a long-standing interest in wine, Ricciardo has
partnered with billionaire bar tycoon Justin Hemmes to establish his own wine
brand called Saint Hugo Riek Red. Currently, the duo is actively promoting the new
brand in Sydney. Interestingly, this is not Ricciardo’s first involvement in
the wine industry. Back in 2015, he collaborated with wine brands and even
released a wine decanter in the shape of a shoe. This was inspired by his
unique celebration ritual, where after winning a race, he would remove his
shoes and drink champagne from them. This unconventional practice, known as a
“shoey,” has become popular among Australian youth. Ricciardo often
invites friends and fellow competitors to join him on stage for a shoey
celebration whenever he secures a podium finish in a race. Fans are aware that
if Ricciardo finishes in the top three, someone on the podium is bound to
partake in the shoey tradition.
