[Saba Sports News] In the high-stakes world of Formula One, every
fraction of a second is crucial during pit stops. Teams strive to minimize the
time spent in the pits to gain a competitive edge. The ideal pit stop time is
widely recognized as two seconds. With this in mind, Red Bull Racing decided to
test their mechanics’ precision and muscle memory by challenging them to change
tires in complete darkness. The mechanics were placed in a garage where all the
lights were turned off, and the entire process was filmed for fans worldwide to
witness. Surprisingly, the mechanics were able to perform the tire change
operation with their eyes closed. On their first attempt, they managed to
replace four tires in less than 10 seconds. However, for a championship-winning
team like Red Bull, this time was not satisfactory. Determined to improve
further, the team dedicated themselves to extensive practice sessions. They
aimed to come as close as possible to the fastest tire change time ever
recorded in Formula One. After countless repetitions and efforts, the team
successfully reduced their time to 2.84 seconds. While impressive, this time is
still slower than the current fastest tire change record set by McLaren at this
year’s Qatar Grand Prix, which stands at 1.4 seconds faster.
