[Saba Sports News] Rashid Khan, with almost eight years in international cricket, has been a significant contributor to Afghanistan cricket and a standout performer in various franchise leagues worldwide.
In a surprising twist, the 25-year-old used his platform (‘X’) to criticize former Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) CEO Shafiq Stanikzai for allegedly spreading false information about the Afghan team participating in the upcoming ODI World Cup in India.
Rashid, the talismanic spinner, asserted that the 15-member Afghan squad is the fittest ever for a major event. He held Stanikzai and his management responsible for Afghanistan’s past World Cup disappointments.
Rashid’s message on ‘X’ read, “I think it’s the best and one of the most fit teams we have ever had for any of the mega events so far, and I believe we can deliver our best this time. Many compromises have been made during your management, @ShafiqStanikzai, in the past while selecting the teams for the World Cups, which has cost the nation many important games. Instead of spreading false information, it would be better to support this group of great guys.”
Shafiq Stanikzai responded to Rashid’s post, expressing bewilderment over the allegations. Stanikzai addressed Rashid as ‘champ’ and reminded him of previous tweets where Rashid had praised him and credited him for Afghanistan’s successes after Stanikzai’s tenure ended.
Stanikzai continued to post messages reminding Rashid of his contributions to Afghanistan cricket and eventually expressed his respect for Rashid and the Afghan team, pledging to be an admirer of both forever.
