[Saba Sports News] British media reports indicate that the Premier
League holds a positive outlook on the forthcoming sale of domestic broadcast
rights, expecting it to surpass £5 billion. The Premier League is confident
that, following significant changes in the bidding process, revenue from
domestic broadcast rights will witness an increase for the first time in nearly
a decade. The next TV contract is set to include a minimum of 50 additional
live games per year, possibly even more. In an effort to attract a larger pool
of broadcasters, the contract duration will be extended from three to four
years, and the sales team is considering reducing the number of packages from
seven to five. During a club meeting held this week, the bidding process for
broadcasters was approved. The auction, scheduled for this year, could
potentially offer up to 270 live games per season, depending on kick-off times,
which is at least 50 more than the current agreement. Insiders within Premier
League clubs express confidence that the price of broadcast rights for the
2022-2025 period will surpass £5 billion.
