[Saba Sports News] After witnessing another loss, Detroit Pistons fans at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, expressed their frustration with a unified chant. The team’s 118-112 defeat to the Brooklyn Nets marked their 27th consecutive loss, surpassing the single-season losing streak records held by the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers and the 2013-14 Philadelphia 76ers.
As the game neared its end, with the Pistons trailing by 5 points and only 13.4 seconds remaining, the crowd’s discontent was vocalized through chants of “Sell the team! Sell the team!” This isn’t the first instance of such chants, with Pistons owner Tom Gores having addressed similar expressions of fan dissatisfaction last week. As the team’s struggles persist, these calls for change in ownership are expected to grow louder.
Despite the outcome, the Pistons showed commendable effort, leading by 14 points early in the game and regaining a 5-point lead in the fourth quarter following a three-pointer by Cade Cunningham. Cunningham, the Pistons’ point guard, led the scoring with 41 points, along with 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 triples, but it wasn’t enough to avert the team’s fall to a 2-28 record.
Looking ahead, the Pistons aim to halt their losing streak before exceeding the overall record of 28 consecutive losses set by the Philadelphia 76ers across two seasons. Detroit’s upcoming matches are against the Boston Celtics on the road and the Toronto Raptors at home.
