[Saba Sports News] Chasing a significant target in the ODI World Cup is a challenging feat, but it has been accomplished by teams on a few memorable occasions. Most recently, Pakistan rewrote the record books by successfully chasing a 345-run target against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad. 

Here are the top five highest successful chases in ODI World Cup history:

1.     Pakistan 345/4 vs Sri Lanka in 2023: In the 2023 ODI World Cup, Pakistan achieved the highest-ever chase in the tournament’s history by successfully pursuing Sri Lanka’s target of 344/9 in Hyderabad. Mohammad Rizwan (131) and Abdullah Shafique (113) played crucial roles in Pakistan’s remarkable comeback from a challenging position.

2.     Ireland 329/7 vs England in 2011: Ireland stunned England by chasing down their target of 328 at Bengaluru in 2011. Kevin O’Brien’s remarkable 113 off 63 balls powered Ireland to a historic victory.

3.     Bangladesh 322/4 vs Scotland in 2015: Bangladesh chased down Scotland’s 318/8 at Nelson in 2015. Tamim Iqbal (95), Mahmudullah (62), Mushfiqur Rahim (60), Shakib Al Hasan (52), and Sabbir Rahman (42) made significant contributions.

4.     Bangladesh 322/3 vs West Indies in 2019: Bangladesh chased down West Indies’ 321/8 at Taunton in 2019, with Shakib Al Hasan scoring a magnificent 124 not out. They achieved the target with seven wickets and 51 balls to spare.

5.     Sri Lanka 313/7 vs Zimbabwe in 1992: Sri Lanka chased down Zimbabwe’s 312/4 at New Plymouth in 1992. Arjuna Ranatunga and Athula Samarasekera played pivotal roles in the chase, with Ranatunga scoring 88 and Samarasekera adding 75.
