[Saba Sports News] The highly anticipated match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan is just on the horizon, and both teams will lock horns at the biggest cricket ground in the world, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, 14th October.
The Gujarat Police are leaving no stone unturned, and they are on the ball to ensure the safety of the match attendees as well as the players. It is reported that over 11,000 security personnel will be deployed at Narendra Modi Stadium from various security agencies such as RAF, NSG, and home guards, including the Gujarat Police itself.
The honorable Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel is also keeping a sharp eye to ensure that all things go well. In relation to this, he held a high-level meeting with the Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi State DGP Vikas Sahay, G S Malik, and other senior police officers. In a press briefing, Malik mentioned that security is going to be top-notch for the Indo-Pak clash.
“Along with more than 7,000 police personnel, we will deploy nearly 4,000 home guards to secure the stadium and to maintain law and order in communally sensitive areas of the city during the match. In addition to these personnel, we will deploy three ‘hit teams’ and one anti-drone team of the NSG. Nine teams of our bomb detection and disposal squad will also be utilized,” Malik was quoted as saying.
Malik further stated that the police have also created a contingency plan in case of any mishappenings during the match.
“Apart from 13 companies of the state reserve police (SRP), we will deploy three companies of Rapid Action Force as part of our security setup. The RAF will keep a watch on communally sensitive areas of the city. To help people in case of a stampede, we have already prepared an evacuation plan and rehearsals are also going on at the stadium,” he added.
The upcoming fixture, scheduled between India and Pakistan is expected to be the most-watched group-stage game of the tournament. India recently defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023.
