[Saba Sports News] Before their Test series against Pakistan, Australia’s bowlers, led by Pat Cummins, acknowledged Babar Azam as a significant challenge. Babar, known for his exceptional skill, has scored six Test centuries against Australia, including a double century in Karachi.
The Australian team, recognizing his potential, is prepared for the task ahead.
Mitchell Starc, Australia’s leading fast bowler, praised Babar, highlighting his remarkable batting temperament and ability to dominate the game. Starc emphasized Babar’s versatility, capable of both building innings and playing aggressively. He expressed the team’s intent to limit Babar’s impact in the series, as quoted by Geo Super.
“Babar Azam has got a great batting temperament and has got all the shots. He can build an inning and can also be ultra-aggressive. Babar has the ability to take the game away from you. He’s one of the best and we hope to keep Babar quiet on this tour.”
Australian captain Pat Cummins also recognized Babar’s prowess, noting his limited weaknesses and well-rounded technique. Cummins acknowledged the difficulty in dismissing Babar, considering his status among the world’s top batters, and mentioned the team’s satisfaction in potentially getting him out.
“Babar doesn’t have too many weaknesses. He has pretty tight technique and can score all around the ground. He is going to be hard work. He is kind of in the upper echelon of the batters at the moment around the world, so it will be satisfying if you get him out.”
In a recent warm-up game against the Prime Minister XI, Babar scored 40 runs, with Pakistan declaring at 391/9. However, Pakistan’s bowling appeared less effective without key players like Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Ali, and Mohammad Wasim Jr., resulting in a draw.
