[Saba Sports News] On October 21, Manchester United
legend Sir Bobby Charlton passed away at the age of 86 after battling an
illness. During Manchester United’s recent away match against Sheffield United,
all players wore black armbands as a tribute to Sir Charlton. A minute of
silence was observed before the game in his honour. Sir Bobby Charlton emerged
from Manchester United’s youth academy and played a crucial role in the club’s
history, including surviving the tragic Munich air crash. He later contributed
significantly to the team’s reconstruction and was part of the renowned
“Holy Trinity” at Manchester United. In 1984, he became a director of
the club, and in 1994, he was knighted by the Queen of England. Furthermore, in
2016, Manchester United named the South Stand at their home stadium the Sir
Bobby Charlton Stand, as a testament to his legacy.
