[Saba Sports News] New York Knicks forward Julius Randle experienced a potentially serious injury during the late stages of Saturday’s victory against the Miami Heat. Randle dislocated his shoulder following an awkward fall in the fourth quarter of the 125-109 win. He was attempting a basket when he got entangled and fell hard onto the court, visibly in acute pain and clutching his shoulder as he headed to the locker room.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported post-game that Randle likely dislocated his shoulder, though initial X-rays showed minimal damage. An MRI is scheduled for later on Saturday to assess the extent of the injury.
The duration of Randle’s potential absence remains unclear, but even in the worst-case scenario, a few weeks of recovery might be expected. This comes at a challenging time for the Knicks, who have been performing well recently, climbing to fourth in the Eastern Conference with Saturday’s win.
Randle has been delivering All-Star-worthy performances this season, averaging 24.1 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. His injury raises questions about whether the Knicks will intensify their trade activities in case he faces a lengthy recovery period.
