[Saba Sports News] Currently, both Draymond Green and Jordan Poole seem to be struggling post-separation. Marc Stein, a seasoned NBA journalist, recently expressed concerns about Poole’s position with the Washington Wizards. According to Stein’s Substack post, informed by insights from league insiders, the Wizards might be looking at Poole as a player to boost in value for a potential future trade, rather than as a key figure to build their team around.
Poole, 24, was recently traded to the Wizards from Golden State as part of the deal involving Chris Paul, following Washington’s trade of Bradley Beal to Phoenix. However, Poole’s performance in the first 11 games of the season with the Wizards has been underwhelming. Despite having a prominent offensive role, he is only averaging 16.2 points per game, a decrease compared to his time in Golden State, and his shooting efficiency is notably poor, with 41/30/79 splits. Poole is even overshadowed by Kyle Kuzma in terms of offensive impact, with the Wizards holding a disappointing 2-9 record under their leadership.
The situation is further complicated by Poole’s substantial four-year, $128 million contract, making him a challenging asset to trade. Given Poole’s current form, which features more disappointments than successes, the Wizards might hope he hits a strong enough stride to attract interest from other teams.
