[Saba Sports News] Golden State Warriors player Jonathan Kuminga recently spoke out about the alleged tension with coach Steve Kerr concerning his playtime and development, following their game on Friday. A significant conversation between Kuminga and Kerr occurred earlier that day, prior to the Warriors’ victory over Detroit. This meeting seems to have effectively addressed Kuminga’s concerns. Kuminga expressed his contentment with the Warriors, noting the meeting was crucial for enhancing communication.
“I love it here,” Kuminga remarked, as reported by Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “I got drafted here. There’s always ups and downs… But I know Steve believes in me. I know he trusts me at this point… It was no beef. None of that… Move on with better understanding and hope we all can work with each other and leave everything in the past.”
Kuminga and Kerr discussed strategies for Kuminga to gain more playtime, making him feel more at ease about approaching Kerr with future issues. “Just us having that conversation today made me more comfortable that any time I have something to ask, I should just go up to his office. His door is open,” said Kuminga.
This response follows a report suggesting Kuminga doubted Kerr’s commitment to his development after being limited to 19 minutes in a loss to Denver. Kerr had publicly assured Kuminga that he was always welcome to discuss any concerns. Following their discussion, Kuminga played a season-high 36 minutes in Friday’s game, indicating a positive outcome from their communication.
