According to the ICC rankings, Australia has surpassed
India as the top-ranked Test side. Previous to this, Australia had occupied the
top rank for a brief period of time after winning the June World Test
Championship.
Australia and India both had ratings of 118 before the
most recent update, but India had more points. But following a 1-1 draw in
their two-match series in South Africa, India dropped one rating point and are
now ranked second. Australia maintained its 118 rating points after defeating
Pakistan in the opening two Test matches.
This also signals the end of India’s dominance as the
top team in all three formats. They were only the second men’s team in history
to hold the top rank in every format back in September of last year.
In ODIs, Australia and India are ranked first and
second respectively. India tops the list with a score of 121, followed closely
by Australia with 117.
India (265) leads second-place England (256) by nine
points in the Twenty20 Internationals.
When it comes to player rankings, Kane Williamson,
Babar Azam and Suryakumar Yadav are the No. 1 batters in Tests, ODIs and T20Is
respectively.
Among bowlers, three spinners – R Ashwin in Tests,
Keshav Maharaj in ODIs and Adil Rashid in T20Is – occupy the top spots.
