[Saba Sports News] India are all set to clash against England in the 29th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at Lucknow’s Ekana Cricket Stadium on Sunday, 29th October. India are currently placed at the second spot on the points table, whereas England currently find themselves at the ninth position.
India are undefeated at the moment, having won all of their league matches so far. However, England’s dreams of knockout qualification are looking bleak as the defending champions have won only one game out of their five.
India’s Virat Kohli has been on an exceptional run and is scoring in the quadrennial tournament with a highly impressive average of 118. The 34-year-old has accumulated 354 runs in five innings, which includes one century against Bangladesh and three fifties versus Australia, Afghanistan and New Zealand.
Ahead of the fixture against the defending champions, Kohli chose England’s lethal pacer Mark Wood as the bowler whom he would like to face in the game on Sunday. Wood could pose a challenge to the Indian batters as he has prior experience of playing at the same venue in the IPL for Lucknow Super Giants. Wood has a fifer to his name, which he took in the IPL at Ekana Stadium.
“Mark Wood, I have played against Mark Wood. I think he is a great bowler, he has skillset to trouble the batsmen, so I would like to test myself against real pace,” said Virat Kohli on Star Sports.
Furthermore, Kohli mentioned England leg spinner Adil Rashid as an underrated bowler. Rashid has earlier dismissed Kohli three times in ODIs.
“Adil Rashid is a very underrated bowler and he has been doing amazingly well for England, a very challenging bowler that I am looking forward to play against,” said Kohli.
