[Saba Sports News] The narrative of “LeBronto” might be taking an intriguing twist.
NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic recently shared some compelling insights on Bronny James’ draft outlook during his visit to “The Pat McAfee Show.” Charania singled out the Toronto Raptors, an Eastern Conference team, as showing potential interest in drafting Bronny James, the 19-year-old freshman from USC. According to Charania, the Raptors are actively “scouting” Bronny.
Bronny’s current performance at USC, where he’s averaging 5.7 points per game with shooting splits of 37/28/61, hasn’t garnered significant draft attention based on his skills alone. Instead, the buzz surrounds the notion that drafting him might also pave the way for acquiring his father, LeBron James. In essence, the Raptors, along with any other team scouting Bronny, are seemingly intrigued by the prospect of bringing the James duo onboard.
This scenario presents a fascinating potential development, especially considering LeBron’s history of dominating the Raptors in the playoffs for several years while with the Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron’s teams ousted Toronto in three consecutive postseasons from 2016 to 2018. It wasn’t until LeBron moved to the Western Conference with the Los Angeles Lakers that the Raptors clinched their first NBA championship in 2019.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers have recently clarified their position regarding drafting Bronny. However, the Raptors, holding the 6th, 17th, and 31st picks in the upcoming draft, seem to be exploring their options as well.
