[Saba Sports News] The Detroit Pistons, amid their record-breaking NBA losing streak, appear to be considering a controversial move. Shams Charania of The Athletic, during his appearance on FanDuel TV’s “Run It Back,” reported that Detroit is actively seeking to trade for a power forward, with Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges among their potential targets.
Bridges, 25, has Michigan roots, having attended Michigan State University. He brings notable scoring prowess and inside toughness, averaging 19.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game this year, skills that the struggling Pistons are in dire need of.
However, Bridges is currently a contentious figure in the NBA due to his off-court issues. He was arrested in June 2022 on allegations of felony domestic violence and later pled no contest, avoiding jail time but resulting in a 30-game suspension from the NBA, spread over two seasons. Additionally, he faced another arrest in October for allegedly violating a protective order related to the initial case, and his legal troubles have even led to him being denied entry into Canada for a game.
With the Pistons at a dismal 2-28 record, suffering their 27th consecutive loss recently amid disapproval from their own fans, they may be willing to overlook the potential public relations impact of acquiring Bridges.
