[Saba Sports News] During a thrilling Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 match at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Babar Azam of Rangpur Riders engaged in an unexpected heated exchange with Durdanto Dhaka’s wicketkeeper, Irfan Sukkur, on January 27. Normally calm, Babar’s rare display of anger during his excellent 62-run innings off 46 balls, which led his team to a score of 183/8 and earned him Player of the Match, captivated cricket enthusiasts globally.
The moment of tension, captured and shared on social media, showed Babar telling Sukkur, “I am not talking to you,” with Mohammad Naim Sheikh trying to calm him down. Babar, visibly upset, made a gesture towards the umpire, prompting intervention to calm the situation.
Despite Babar’s significant contribution, Rangpur Riders had a challenging game against Durdanto Dhaka. Mahedi Hasan’s outstanding bowling (3 for 11) and support from Azmatullah Omarzai and Hasan Mahmud, who took two wickets each, were highlights. Alex Ross led Dhaka’s chase with a determined 51 off 35 balls, but with minimal support from his team, Dhaka couldn’t meet Rangpur’s target, ultimately falling short in the 12th match of the BPL 2024.
