[Saba Sports News] Viktor Axelsen, the world’s number one badminton
men’s singles player, shared an update on his social media yesterday, featuring
a picture of his daughter Vega Rohde Axelsen participating in a gingerbread
house competition. Unfortunately, Axelsen and his daughter were unable to
complete the race as Vega chewed on the gingerbread house’s roof. The
gingerbread house is a dessert traditionally placed under the Christmas tree
for decoration. It is made with ingredients like butter, brown sugar, powdered
sugar, and eggs. The concept of the gingerbread house originated from the
German Grimm fairy tale “Hansel and Gretel,” symbolizing resilience
in the face of life’s challenges. By persevering and holding onto our ideals
and hopes during the festive season, the Gingerbread Elf is believed to help
make our wishes come true. Axelsen deeply loves his two daughters and often
takes them along to various competitions worldwide. His elder daughter was born
in October 2020, and Axelsen, who possesses a “Level 10 Chinese”
proficiency, gave her the Chinese name “Anweijia” and the nickname
“Weiwei.” His younger daughter was born in August 2022, and Axelsen
named her “An Zixi.” The name “Zixi” is derived from the
poem “Guo Feng · Tang Feng · Chou Mou” in the “Book of
Songs,” an ancient Chinese anthology of poetry. It conveys the love and
expectations parents have for their children, wishing for their healthy and
joyful growth.
