[Saba Sports News] Earlier, there were reports
that Brazilian star Dani Alves had been sentenced to four years and six months
in prison for rape. As a result, there are now discussions about removing
Alves’ statue in his hometown in Brazil. Alves, who was born in the state of
Bahia, is considered a football hero there, and a statue was erected in his
honor. However, after the allegations of sexual assault against Alves emerged
in 2023, his statue was vandalized. It was covered with a garbage bag and taped
on the outside. Now that Alves has been officially sentenced, local residents
and the city council are calling for the removal of his statue. The local
municipal government is currently evaluating the situation, and a decision
regarding the statue’s removal is expected to be announced soon. The drastic
turn of events has transformed Alves from a hero to a controversial figure in
the eyes of the public.
