Sports News] The Super 1000 Series All England Badminton Open began this week.
In the first round of the men’s singles event, Chinese Taipei’s “Badminton
Prince” Tzu Wei Wang was defeated by Japanese player Koki Watanabe,
missing out on the top 16. During the match, Wang didn’t have a jersey to wear
and had to use his own sponsor’s product, the Crayon Shin-chan practice jersey.
The broadcast included close-up shots, capturing the attention of fans.
Notably, Wang had performed well in the previous week’s French Open, defeating
Danish golf king Viktor Axelsen and reaching the quarterfinals. However, he
ultimately lost to Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn. After the French Open, Wang
flew directly to the UK but encountered an unusual situation where his luggage
was not delivered. Surprisingly, the day after he was eliminated from the
tournament, his luggage arrived. In response, Wang jokingly posted,
“Awesome! My luggage has finally arrived. Should I be happy? I was
thinking it would have been better if it had arrived earlier.” In the same
series, China’s women’s badminton player Han Yue also faced a similar situation
where her equipment was not delivered, leading her to borrow her teammates’
equipment to play the match.
