[Saba Sports News] The 2024 Thomas and Uber Cup,
the premier badminton tournament preceding the Paris Olympics, is scheduled to
take place from April 27th to May 5th at the Chengdu High-tech Sports Center.
Thirty-two teams from around the world, consisting of 16 men’s and women’s
teams, will gather in Chengdu to deliver an exciting showdown for fans.
Yesterday, the draw ceremony for the 2024 Thomas and Uber Cup was held, and
both the Malaysian men’s and women’s teams were included in the draw. Based on
the results, the Malaysian men’s team has been placed in a group with Denmark,
Hong Kong, and Algeria, while the Malaysian women’s team is in a group with
Thailand, Chinese Taipei, and Australia. According to the competition format,
the group stage will feature three rounds of single round-robin matches, with
the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout rounds for the top
8. Considering the overall strength of the Malaysian men’s and women’s teams,
it is highly likely that they will secure one of the top two spots in their
respective groups. As one of the most significant team events in the world of
badminton, the Thomas and Uber Cup is held every two years. Given the
tournament’s timing in relation to the Olympic Games, each national team is
