[Saba Sports News] In a major blow to Delhi Capitals (DC), their star overseas pacer Lungi Ngidi has been ruled out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 due to an injury.
Ngidi last played SA20 2024. He had missed the T20I series against India at the end of last year but returned to play the Test matches.
“Ngidi, who has played 14 IPL matches and has 25 wickets against his name, was ruled out of the IPL 2024 due to injury,” IPL released a statement.
Delhi Capitals have signed Jake Fraser-McGurk as his replacement. Fraser-McGurk has played only ODI for Australia so far, but he has made a name for himself in franchise cricket, impressing with the bat in Big Bash League 2023-24 and ILT20 2024.
This development comes two days after Harry Brook opted out of the nearing IPL season. DC are yet to name his replacement. Although there were rumours initially that Fraser-McGurk will join the Capitals as Brook’s replacement.
