[Saba Sports News] Renowned cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin warmed the hearts of cricket fans when he graciously granted autographs and took photos with two young admirers at the airport, as the Rajasthan Royals (RR) traveled to Mumbai for their next Indian Premier League (IPL) match.
The heartwarming encounter occurred on Saturday, March 30, as the Royals departed from Jaipur for their away fixture against the Mumbai Indians on April 1. Encountering Ashwin at the airport, the two enthusiastic fans eagerly requested his autograph and a photo, to which the 37-year-old spinner kindly obliged. The moment was captured in a touching video shared by the Royals on their official social media platforms, eliciting joyous reactions from the young fans.
Ashwin, a veteran of 281 international matches for India, including 100 Tests, stands second only to Anil Kumble in terms of Test wickets by an Indian bowler. Recently, during the Test series against England, he achieved the milestone of 500 Test wickets.
While Rajasthan has enjoyed a successful start to IPL 2024, Ashwin’s performance has been relatively subdued, with just one wicket from the first two matches at an average of 65 and an economy rate of 9.29. However, he made a significant impact with the bat in the most recent clash against the Delhi Capitals, where he was promoted to No. 5. Ashwin contributed a brisk 29 off 19 balls, including three sixes, rescuing the team from a precarious position at 36/3.
The Rajasthan Royals have made an impressive start to the 17th edition of the IPL, securing victories in their opening two matches. They defeated the Lucknow Super Giants by 20 runs in their first match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, with captain Sanju Samson leading the way with a half-century. This was followed by a 12-run triumph over the Delhi Capitals in their second home game, with Riyan Parag’s unbeaten 84 proving pivotal in the victory.
