[Saba Sports News] Harleen Deol of the Gujarat Giants will miss the rest of WPL 2024 due to a knee injury, as reported by Cricbuzz. Bharti Fulmali from Vidarbha has been called up as her replacement and participated in the team’s warm-up before their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Delhi on Wednesday, March 6.
Deol sustained the injury to her already bandaged left knee during fielding in the first over of a game against UP Warriorz in Bengaluru, which led to her withdrawal from the field and she hasn’t played since. While she was present in Delhi, she wasn’t dressed in the Giants’ gear during their clash with RCB.
The Gujarat Giants have also been concerned about the availability of vice-captain Sneh Rana, who missed two games due to illness. However, it’s believed that Rana has made a good recovery and should be back for the upcoming match against the Mumbai Indians on March 9.
The Giants have been plagued with injuries this season, affecting their pace attack severely. Notably, they lost Kashvee Gautam, a significant pre-tournament acquisition, and Lauren Cheatle, who withdrew due to a medical procedure. They have since signed Lea Tahuhu and Sayali Sathgare as replacements.
Despite a tough start to the season, the Giants secured their first victory against RCB, setting a challenging 200-run target and securing a 19-run win, although they remain at the bottom of the standings.
