[Saba Sports News] Star all-rounder Deepti Sharma made history as the first Indian to clinch a hat-trick in the Women’s Premier League, showcasing her skill in a pivotal match between UP Warriroz and Delhi Capitals at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Her exceptional performance, particularly her hat-trick split between two spells, was crucial in UP Warriroz’s nail-biting 1-run victory, enhancing their standings with an additional two points.
Deepti initially dismissed Meg Lanning for 60, disrupting Delhi’s pursuit of 139 runs, and later returned to remove Annabel Sutherland and Arundhati Reddy in consecutive deliveries, concluding with impressive figures of 4/19. This monumental feat placed her as the second player to achieve a hat-trick in the WPL’s history, following Issy Wong of Mumbai Indians.
Besides her bowling exploits, Deepti also significantly contributed 59 runs, bolstering UP Warriroz’s total to a competitive 138/8, ultimately proving crucial for their win.
