[Saba Sports News] Zimbabwean badminton star
Thabani Mathe recently traveled to China to participate in a three-month
badminton training camp. His aim was to prepare for the 32nd Iran Dawn
International Challenge, scheduled to take place from January 30 to February 4.
The tournament, which falls under the BWF International Challenge category,
attracts top international badminton players from around the world. Mathe
expressed his happiness at studying at the Sichuan Badminton Training Center in
China, where he had the opportunity to learn from some of the country’s
exceptional players. The three months of training provided him with valuable
insights and expanded his horizons. Mathe believes that the most significant
achievement of his training was gaining increased confidence in his abilities.
Confidence is crucial for a professional player, especially when facing
challenging odds. Notable accomplishments of Thabani Mathe include two bronze
medals in the All-Africa Schools Championship, six Zimbabwe Open Championships,
five Sunrise Open Club Championships, and five Eagle Wings Open Badminton
Championships. His goal is to accumulate as many points as possible in each
competition to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
