[Saba Sports News] Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has dismissed rumors about his political debut, stating he won’t be contesting in the Lok Sabha elections from Punjab’s Gurdaspur constituency, despite widespread speculation.
This speculation was fueled by his recent meeting with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, sparking rumors of his potential candidacy for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), possibly replacing actor Sunny Deol. Addressing the rumors, Yuvraj clarified on X (formerly Twitter) his commitment to social work through his foundation, YouWeCan, rather than pursuing a political career.
Yuvraj emphasized his dedication to helping people and continuing his impactful work through YouWeCan, a foundation focused on cancer awareness and support, reflecting his journey as a cancer survivor. Besides his philanthropic efforts, Yuvraj is active in mentoring young cricketers like Shubman Gill and participating in various legends’ leagues.
He is preparing for the Legends Cricket Trophy 2024, where he will lead the NY Superstar Strikers, showcasing his ongoing connection to cricket post-retirement.
In 2022, he significantly contributed to India Legends’ victory in the Road Safety World Series, but his cricketing appearances have been selective, with plans to participate in more events in 2024.
