[Saba Sports News] The Super 300 Taipei Badminton Open is in full swing. In the women’s singles round of 16, there was a showdown between two players from Chinese Taipei, with the top player TAI Tzu-Ying defeating YANG Yu-Chi 2-0. After the match, Yang Yu-Chi took the initiative to request a photo with Tai Tzu-Ying and became emotional, expressing that she couldn’t predict Tai’s playing style and felt that having the chance to compete with her meant there were no regrets in her life. It turns out that Yang had set the Chinese Taipei Open as her last match in her professional career; she will next go to school to work as a coach and substitute teacher, hoping to contribute to badminton in a different way. In response, Tai stated that saying goodbye to the court is inevitably emotional, and it is a process that every athlete must go through, so one must learn to accept it. According to reports, 23-year-old Yang, currently ranked 135th in the world in women’s singles, stands only 149 cm tall, making her the shortest player in this Taipei Badminton Open. Yang revealed that she joined her school’s badminton team in elementary school because she loved the sport and thought it might help her grow taller. Despite her small stature, she worked hard and advanced to the A group at the age of 17. Unfortunately, she found it difficult to find further growth opportunities and chose to retire.
