[Saba Sports News] Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins is currently on a leave of absence from the team to address a personal matter. He missed the recent game against the Washington Wizards and, as stated by Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr, there’s no clear timeline for his return.
Kerr emphasized the team’s respect for Wiggins’ privacy and their anticipation of his return, though the exact timing remains uncertain.
“I just think we’re in a position where Wiggs is a private person and so he’s asked to keep it private and we’re gonna honor that,” Kerr said. “So, it doesn’t help for me to sit here and try to explain any of that. The bottom line is we respect Wiggs, we need him and we fully expect him back, but we just don’t know when that will be.”
This isn’t the first time Wiggins has taken time off; he missed the last part of the previous season for personal reasons but was present throughout the playoffs. This season, he’s been contributing with averages lower than his career norm, as the Warriors fight to secure a playoff berth.
