[Saba Sports News] Wasim Akram light-heartedly mocked Australian commentators for their mispronunciation of “Fakhar” during the recent Test series between Australia and Pakistan, which Pakistan lost 0-3. Akram, part of the commentary team, featured in a viral video where he humorously addressed this issue. He playfully challenged his Australian colleagues, saying, “There’s another name you guys mess up as well. Try to pronounce Fakhar.”
Akram shared a personal anecdote involving his wife Shaniera, who initially struggled with the pronunciation due to the Australian accent’s difficulty with the ‘K’ sound. It took her two years to correctly say the name of his son’s friend, Fakhar. The commentary team, including Australian commentators and Akram, also recalled an incident where Mark Waugh had difficulty pronouncing ‘Fakhar Zaman’ on stage.
Regarding the series, Pat Cummins’ Australian team secured a convincing 3-0 series win. The series began with a 360-run victory in Perth, followed by wins in Melbourne and Sydney. In the final Test at Sydney, Pakistan scored 313 and 115, while Australia managed 299 in their first innings and successfully chased a target of 130, thanks to David Warner’s 57 and Marnus Labuschagne’s unbeaten 62.
