[Saba Sports News] In the 17th match of the ODI World Cup 2023, India faced Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first. Virat Kohli, the superstar batter, played a stellar innings of 103 off 97 balls to guide India to victory. India won the match by seven wickets with 51 balls to spare, solidifying their position at the top of the table.
Kohli sealed the victory in style with a brilliant six off Nasum Ahmed, and the crowd erupted in joy. He received a warm embrace from his partner, KL Rahul, as he celebrated the winning shot.
In the match, Bangladesh initially struggled against Indian bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj, but Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan gradually regained momentum for Bangladesh. However, Kuldeep Yadav’s breakthrough wicket disrupted their partnership. Despite a late flourish from Mahmudullah, Bangladesh managed to reach a competitive total of 256.
India’s chase got off to a strong start with openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill forging an 88-run partnership for the first wicket. Although Rohit was dismissed, Gill scored a half-century before falling to Mehidy Hasan. Kohli’s outstanding century then guided India to victory, securing their top spot in the tournament.
