Sports News] According to recent news from Korean media, the sister-in-law of
Korean international footballer Ui-jo Hwang has been sentenced to 3 years in
prison for distributing indecent videos without permission. The case caused a
stir in the country, and legal action was promptly taken against Hwang’s
sister-in-law. In the recent trial, the court reached a verdict in the first
instance, citing “threat of retaliation” as the reason for the
sentence. The court determined that Hwang’s sister-in-law did not show sincere
remorse for her actions and had denied the crime from the investigation stage
to the court hearing in an attempt to evade responsibility. Based on these
factors, the court sentenced her to three years in prison. It has been reported
that Hwang’s sister-in-law took this action due to her belief that Hwang had
betrayed her and her husband. They had made sacrifices for Hwang’s success,
supporting him overseas for five years. However, a conflict arose between the
parties last year when he joined an English team, deepening the perceived
betrayal. The spreading of the indecent video had a significant impact on Hwang
Ui-jo’s future. Following the incident, the South Korean national team
announced that they would stop selecting Hwang for international duty.
Currently, Hwang is on loan to the Turkish team Alanya from Nottingham Forest,
where he is continuing his football career.
