[Saba Sports News] Currently leading the Western Conference, the Minnesota Timberwolves appear poised for a significant push.
According to ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel, the Timberwolves have shown interest in acquiring Atlanta Hawks guard Bogdan Bogdanovic before the trade deadline on February 8. Despite potential complications with Bogdanovic’s contract and Minnesota’s salary cap, the Timberwolves are open to trading Kyle Anderson, who is nearing the end of his contract.
Bogdanovic, aged 31, has emerged as a standout wing scorer, boasting a career-best average of 17.1 points per game this season with Atlanta. He’s also an effective three-point shooter, hitting 38.5% of his attempts, even though he plays off the bench. Despite being an average size for his position at 6-foot-5 and recently starting a new four-year, $68 million contract, Bogdanovic represents a feasible target for the Timberwolves from the struggling 19-27 Hawks.
With a 33-14 record, Minnesota has been performing well with their current starters. However, their bench, particularly in the backcourt, lacks depth, with big man Naz Reid as the main scoring option. On the other hand, Atlanta might be considering trades for Bogdanovic among other veterans as the deadline approaches.
