[Saba Sports News] Renowned German football star Thomas Muller has openly declared his support for India in the current ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Ahead of India’s crucial semifinal against New Zealand at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on November 15, Muller sent his best wishes to the team.
He had already shown his support for India and Rohit Sharma at the beginning of the tournament. Reinforcing his support, the 2014 FIFA World Cup champion conveyed his good luck to the team again, this time donning the Indian team’s jersey, a present he received.

Muller shared a video on X (previously known as Twitter), expressing his backing for the two-time World Cup winners. In the video, he is seen unveiling an Indian jersey with his name and the number 25, expressing his gratitude to the team and offering them good fortune for their upcoming semifinal match, all while wearing the jersey and posing for the camera.
His video caption read, “Look at this, @imVkohli Thank you for the shirt, #TeamIndia! Good luck at the @cricketworldcup #esmuellert #Cricket.”
Team India, with nine victories in as many matches in the ongoing ODI World Cup, is showing remarkable form. In their final league match in Bengaluru, led by Rohit Sharma, India triumphed over the Netherlands by 160 runs, topping the points table with 18 points.
Yet, a significant challenge awaits Rahul Dravid’s team in the form of New Zealand. Notably, India faced a devastating 18-run defeat to the Blackcaps in the 2019 ODI World Cup semifinal at Old Trafford, a loss deeply felt by many across the nation. In ICC tournaments, India has yet to secure a win against New Zealand in a knockout game.
However, India did achieve a breakthrough in Dharamsala, defeating New Zealand by four wickets in the group stage, ending a 20-year winless streak against them in ICC events.
