[Saba Sports News] The group stage of the 2023 BWF World Tour Finals
has concluded, and each individual event will now move on to the semifinals on
the 16th. In the women’s doubles semifinals, Baek Ha Na and LEE So-hee from
South Korea faced off against Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida from Japan.
During the match, Lee sprained her ankle and requested a medical timeout.
However, despite receiving medical treatment, Lee was unable to recover and
couldn’t run. Consequently, she had to stay near the net and wait for
opportunities, while Baek Ha Na covered a wide range of movement. The Korean
team was later issued a yellow card by the referee for multiple delays. In
badminton, there are not only yellow and red cards but also black cards. A
yellow card indicates repeated rule violations by a player and serves as a
warning that the player must comply with the rules or face additional
penalties. A red card is given if a player, who has already received a yellow
card, continues to violate the rules. It results in a penalty point being
awarded to the opposing player. A black card is issued when a player commits
severe or repeated rule violations. The referee can report the violation to the
chief referee and issue a “violation.” The chief referee has the
authority to disqualify the player based on the seriousness of the situation.
