[Saba Sports News] Australia inflicted a cleansweep on Pakistan, winning all of the three matches of the recently-concluded Test series. Pakistan now have lost 17 Test matches on the trot on the Australian soil.
However, the Pakistan team director and head coach Mohammad Hafeez looked optimistic about the side’s future, sharing that the their focus was on looking at the talent of the players.
Pakistan went in with an inexperienced bowling attack. Shaheen Shah Afridi also failed to make an impact. Still, the Shan Masood-led outfit fought well with the ball as new talents, namely Aamer Jamal, Mir Hamza and Khurram Shahzad, had an excellent tour. Jamal finished as the second-highest wicket-taker, claiming 18 scalps in his debut international series.
“Yes, we lost the series, but the idea behind it was only watching the talent of the players. And we will see some beams of it. There were certain moments of the game, where we should grab those opportunities and it can make a major difference,” Hafeez said as quoted in the post-match presser after the third Test.
Pakistani players made quite a lot fielding lapses throughout the three Tests. Hafeez talked about the need of improvement on this front.
“The major negative side of our team is basically our fielding, we need to really work hard on this,” Hafeez added.
