[Saba Sports News] At the Japan Badminton Masters held in
mid-November, Indonesian badminton player Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, known as
Indonesia’s “No. 1”, emerged victorious by defeating Chen Yufei and
clinching the championship. As a result, Mariska’s world ranking in women’s
singles rose to seventh. Currently, she is actively preparing for the 2023
Badminton World Federation year-end finals. Surprisingly, despite being only 24
years old, Mariska has already found success in both her career and love life.
In June of this year, multiple media outlets reported that Mariska got engaged.
Her fiance, named Mikha Angelo, was born in 1997 and is a singer with a height
of 1.75 meters. The couple has been in a relationship since 2018 and frequently
shares affectionate photos on social media platforms. Mariska was initially
hailed as a “genius girl” when she made her debut. In 2017, she
secured the women’s singles championship at the World Youth Badminton
Championships. Not only did she become the second Indonesian women’s singles
champion in the history of the World Youth Championships, but she also became
the first Indonesian women’s singles player to receive the award in 25 years.
However, Mariska faced challenges upon transitioning to adult competitions.
Fortunately, with the support and encouragement of her boyfriend, she overcame
the obstacles. Now, the couple is on the verge of getting married, and it’s a
joyous occasion worth celebrating.
