Sports News] The La Chapelle Arena, designed to host the badminton events for
the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, has been completed and recently
had its opening ceremony. The arena, named La Chapelle Stadium, has a seating
capacity of 8,000 and is the only newly constructed venue located in the center
of Paris. It is also the first Olympic venue to be completed and put into use.
As part of the operational preparations, the French Badminton Open, scheduled
for early March this year, will serve as a test event for the venue. Following
that, the Olympic badminton competition will take place from July 27 to August
5. Subsequently, the arena will host the rhythmic gymnastics competition from
August 8 to 10, as well as the para-badminton and weightlifting events during
the Paris Paralympic Games. On the opening day, the organizing committee
arranged various activities, including fencing, wheelchair basketball, and
dance performances, to introduce the new cultural center to the local
community. After the conclusion of the Paralympic Games, La Chapelle Stadium
will continue to serve as a cultural and sports activity center for the local
community.
