[Saba Sports News] Jang Ye Na, the 34-year-old Korean badminton hero,
recently announced her retirement, sparking discussions among fans. Although
Jang Ye Na may not be widely recognized, she had a significant impact on the
Southeast Asian badminton scene. In the 2010 Uber Cup final, the Chinese team
suffered a 1-3 defeat against the South Korean team, with Jang Ye Na securing a
crucial victory in the women’s singles competition. Furthermore, in the 2017
Thomas Cup final, Jang Ye Na and her partner, Lee So-hee, defeated Chen
Qingchen and Jia Yifan, contributing to the Korean team’s championship win over
the Chinese team. Jang Ye Na has also achieved notable personal honors,
including winning the women’s doubles championship at the 2011 Macau Badminton
Golden Grand Prix, the 2016 China Badminton Open, and the 2017 World Badminton
Super Series All England Open. In the world rankings released by the Badminton
World Federation in November 2017, Jang Ye Na and her partner, Lee So-hee, held
the second spot in women’s doubles. It is fair to say that Jang Ye Na is a
legend in the history of Korean badminton.
