[Saba Sports News] Following Mumbai Indians’ defeat, Sachin Tendulkar and Hardik Pandya delivered inspiring speeches to uplift the team’s spirits.
Despite retiring from professional cricket 11 years ago, Sachin Tendulkar’s Mumbai Indians’ legacy continues to thrive within him. As the mentor of the franchise, he remains actively engaged in the team’s affairs. While typically composed, Tendulkar readily steps in to boost the team’s morale when necessary.
The recent match presented a fitting moment for Tendulkar to impart his wisdom. Although Mumbai Indians fell short of chasing down the highest total ever, trailing by 31 runs, their effort showcased resilience. Despite the daunting target of 278 runs, courtesy of formidable batting performances by Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Heinrich Klaasen for the opposition, Mumbai managed a commendable total of 246. This display demonstrated their fighting spirit, even against a superior opponent like the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Tendulkar reflected on this in his speech after the game, emphasizing the team’s impressive batting performance and urging unity amidst tougher challenges ahead.
“In the second half, in spite of scoring 277, 10 overs down the line nobody knew who was a clear winner. The game was very much open. The target was very much achievable. That’s a clear-cut sign that we’ve batted really well. So let’s stick together. Tighter. There are going to be tougher moments. We will stick together as a group and pull it through,” Tendulkar said.
MI captain Hardik Pandya echoed Tendulkar’s sentiments, particularly praising the team’s bowlers who endured a tough outing. Despite the pressure, Pandya commended their resilience and emphasized the importance of sticking together through thick and thin, emphasizing the team’s strength and unity.
“Toughest soldiers get the toughest test. And we are the toughest team in the competition. Anyone who would have come even close to where we reached, as a batting group or as just overall Mumbai Indians, are us. Something I am really proud of is our bowlers. Even when the day was tough, I didn’t see no one running away. Everyone wanted the ball and that’s a good sign. So let’s make sure that we help each other throughout whatever happens. Worst. Bad. Good. We will manage it together,” Hardik shared.
Both speeches served to rally the Mumbai Indians’ spirits, highlighting their fighting spirit and determination to overcome obstacles as a cohesive unit.
