In other cricket news, Cricket Australia is currently involved in a multi-format series with the West Indies. The series began with two Test matches, where Australia secured a win in the first but saw the West Indies bounce back in the second Test, thanks to Shamar Joseph’s standout performance, drawing the series.
The action then moved to the shorter ODI format, starting with a match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on February 2. The West Indies, batting first after losing the toss, were stabilized by Keacy Carty’s 88 runs, with Roston Chase contributing 59 runs, setting a target of 231. Australia’s Xavier Bartlett led the bowling attack with four wickets, supported by Sean Abbott and Cameron Green with two wickets each, and Adam Zampa with one.
Australia’s chase was marked by strong performances from Josh Inglis (65 runs), Cameron Green (77* runs), and Steve Smith (79* runs), securing an eight-wicket victory for the hosts.
